Music

When I was very young I remember Dad coming home from work and cranking up some of his favorite LPs. When Jay and I went to live with him in Greece about 10 years later, he had put together a nice system which included a reel to reel and cassette recorder. Friends and colleagues would bring him LPs of popular bands from the USA and we would make mix tapes which we played in the little green Fiat he and Joella owned at the time. We rocked Greece with Bad Company, The Eagles, The Beatles, Pink Floyd, Buffalo Springfield, Paul McCartney, Elton John……. Jay and I enjoyed this tremendously and we both became audiophiles. Jay stepped further and became a talented musician. Music was a huge connection between the three of us. In the early 90s he actually went with me to see the Scorpions at the Oakland Area.  When Jay and I would come up with something that Dad did not have in his collection, we would rip to his computer and crank it up in his office.  I can still see him smiling and rocking out.  When I drove Dad home from the rehab hospital in Los Gatos, he insisted I take him to The Country Gourmet for lunch. Against my better judgement I did and we barley pulled it off.  He was very pleased. On the way home he asked me to play some music so cranked up my copy of The Babys Anthology. As expected he knew immediately who it was and that was the last rock out session Dad I had together.

He put together some great playlists for himself and many friends. As time permits, I hope to share them here. -RPH
